The Coshocton City Utilities Department is committed to providing quality, safe and affordable water and wastewater services to the citizens of the City of Coshocton and surrounding areas. The Coshocton City Utilities Department consists of the Water Treatment Plant, the Wastewater Treatment Plant, Water Distribution and the Water Billing Office.

The City of Coshocton operates a groundwater treatment facility that provides high-quality drinking water. A major plant expansion was completed in 2008 at the Water Treatment Plant and based on Ohio EPA criteria; the plant is rated to deliver up to 15 Million Gallons per Day (MGD) of water. Water treatment consists of a lime softening process, stabilization (recarbonation), filtration, disinfection and fluoridation of the city’s well water supply. The Water Treatment Plant offers a self-serve bulk water station open to the public. Cost is $.01/gallon of water. The bulk water station is available for public use 24 hours a day/7days a week.

The Coshocton Wastewater Treatment Plant is a 4.4 MGD trickling filter plant with available capacity of 2.7 MGD. The recent expansion in 2008 resulted in a complete renovation of the three trickling filters and installation of a new high strength Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) removal system. The Wastewater Treatment Plant has a grit removal system, primary and secondary clarifiers, chlorine contact tank, dechlorination, primary and secondary anaerobic digesters, belt press and sludge holding facility.

The City of Coshocton Water Distribution employees are responsible for maintaining water lines, repairing line breaks and servicing and reading water meters. Approximately 6 million gallons of water is pumped daily throughout the city’s distribution system to service over 5,400 customers.

The Coshocton Water Billing Office is located at 1100 Walnut St. Lobby hours are 8:30 – 3:30 and Drive thru hours are 8:00 – 4:00 Monday through Friday except for Legal & City Holidays. The Water Billing Office accepts cash, check or money orders. Payments may be made in person, by mail, ACH (automatic debit) or through online bill pay. For convenience, a drop box for payments is located in the first lane at 1100 Walnut St.

Emergencies: To report water line breaks and/or any water/sewer emergencies, please contact the Water Treatment Plant at 740-622-1577. If no one is available to take your call, please contact the Sheriff’s office at 740-622-2411.
